Riverside Community Hospital’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) Consortium announced its 2026 class of medical residents and fellows during the annual national Match Day.
The announcement was made during Match Day, an annual event when graduating medical students learn where they will spend the next several years of their training as residents. This year, all 84 available positions were filled across the following programs:
- Anesthesiology
- Radiology
- Emergency Medicine
- Family Medicine
- General Surgery
- Internal Medicine
- Neurology
- Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Transitional Year
- Gastroenterology Fellowship
- Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship
- Interventional Cardiology Fellowship
- Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Fellowship
“The Graduate Medical Education Consortium at Riverside Community Hospital is an important step in training the next generation of physicians,” said Shesh Rao, MD, chief medical officer at Riverside Community Hospital. “Our goal is to help address the growing need for healthcare providers while expanding patient access to highly skilled physicians. By offering multiple specialty training opportunities, we aim to support medical students as they continue their education and build lasting connections within the Inland Empire region.”
Riverside Community Hospital is currently home to 237 residents and fellows, making it the largest GME consortium within HCA Healthcare. A new class of residents and fellows will begin their training in July 2026, while current trainees across several programs are set to graduate in June.
Riverside Community Hospital launched its GME program in 2016 with 25 internal medicine residents. Since then, the program has expanded by 161 percent, growing into one of the region’s leading academic medical centers for physician training.
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is a private, nonprofit organization that evaluates and accredits graduate medical education programs. Completion of a residency program in a specialized area is required for physicians to practice independently and is one of the most influential factors in determining where they ultimately practice. All of Riverside Community Hospital’s GME programs are fully accredited by the ACGME.
