RCH donates Stop the Bleed kits to City of Riverside
Riverside, Calif. — Today, Riverside Community Hospital donated 21 Stop the Bleed Kits to the City of Riverside Housing and Human Services Department to assist their initiatives in helping people experiencing homelessness in our community.
Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. Riverside Community Hospital’s Injury Prevention team has been committed to providing Stop the Bleed training to the community for nearly 10 years. Working with over one hundred community partners, including local law enforcement, schools and civic organizations, the hospital has trained more than 12,000 people in life-saving techniques.
“These Stop the Bleed Kits make the difference between being unprepared and being able to save a life,” said Jessica Daniel, public safety and engagement team outreach worker for the City of Riverside. “In those critical moments when every second counts, these kits will give us the tools to act quickly, protect our community and prevent tragedy. Riverside Community Hospital’s generosity does not just provide supplies — it provides hope, safety and the power to save lives.”
Each Stop the Bleed Kit includes a tourniquet, scissors, gauze, a marker and gloves. Wendy McEuen, injury prevention coordinator at the hospital, delivered the kits to the City of Riverside public safety and engagement team at the Riverside Municipal Airport early Wednesday morning.
