Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification 7 years in a row

Riverside Community Hospital announced today it has, once again, received certification from DNV as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, reflecting the highest level of competence for treatment of serious stroke events.

“Comprehensive stroke care for the Inland Empire and surrounding region is very important; we treated over 1,800 stroke patients in 2024,” said Peter Hemstead, chief executive officer at Riverside Community Hospital. “This certification from DNV validates all the effort our stroke team of physicians, nurses and support staff have put into this program and to ensuring the health and safety of our patients.”

The DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification is based on standards set forth by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association, and affirms that the medical center addresses the full spectrum of stroke care — diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education — and establishes clear metrics to evaluate outcomes.

Comprehensive stroke centers are typically and largest and best-equipped hospitals and a given geographical area that can treat any kind of stroke or stroke complication.
