Riverside Community Hospital is recognized for the use of Health Information Technology

Riverside, Calif. — April 19, 2011 — Riverside Community Hospital was recognized by the City of Riverside and Intelligent Communities Forum as a leading local hospital in the use of new and innovative technology. The recognition was part of an award presented to the City of Riverside that recognizes cities and communities that have developed innovative ways to improve healthcare quality and efficiency through the use of new technology.
Every year, the Intelligent Community Award is guided by an annual theme. This year’s theme focused on "Health in the Intelligent Community". As part of the nominating process for the award, cities were asked to highlight their achievements in this specific area. Riverside Community Hospital was highlighted for a number of new innovative programs that focused on ways to improve the delivery and management of healthcare using communications technology to enhance the health of residents, reducing costs and creating business opportunities for local employers. The new ER text messaging program and i-Triage® Smartphone medical application were amongst the new innovative programs that were highlighted.

Intelligent Communities Forum announced that the City of Riverside was recognized as one of the Top 7 Intelligent Communities of the Year to receive the worldwide award and one of six U.S. cities to receive the recognition. Among other cities worldwide to share the award this year are: Chongqing, China; Eindhoven, Netherlands; Ipswich, Australia; Issy-les-Moulineaux, France; Quebec City, Canada; and Chattanooga, Tennessee.
